Who are the Serendipity Strings?

We are four active, professional women in the Seattle music scene.  Some of us are music teachers, some of us compose and arrange music, and all of us play regularly in various orchestras and chamber groups. Please see Our Bios and Our Story for more information.

What instruments are in a String Quartet?

A String Quartet consists of 2 violins, a viola and a cello.

Why hire a string quartet? 

Live string music fills a room with grace, beauty and sophistication.  Recorded music cannot resonate in a space the way that live music can.  A quartet encompasses a full range of musical sound, with the rich depth of the cello, and alto viola to the high, melodious violins. This traditional ensemble is like a miniature string orchestra at your event! The effect is profound and moving, but not overwhelming.

What kinds of events does Serendipity Strings play for? 

We play for weddings, parties, corporate events, memorial services, special dinner occasions, and any place where beautiful live string music will add a magical ambience to the event.  We can play outdoors in good weather.  Each year we donate our services to a few charity fundraising or other good works events.

How do I reserve Serendipity Strings for my event? 

Please email us to inquire about your occasion. We will be happy to talk to you about your event plans, schedule, and any special requests or ideas you might have. A deposit is required for reserving the date; the remainder will be due on the day of the performance.   

What kind of music do you play, and how will it fit into my event? 

Our repertoire of music consists of various styles from serious and light classical fare to contemporary pop and soundtrack arrangements. Serendipity Strings can work with you personally to create and customize a playlist that is perfect for your occasion. See our Repertoire List for some ideas. If you prefer, you can give us some basic information about your style and we will help you choose the right music for your occasion.

Where do you perform?

We perform all over the Puget Sound region. 

Do you travel outside of the Greater Seattle to play at events? 

We do travel to perform at events outside of the Greater Seattle area.  Depending on the location, we may charge a travel fee. Please contact us with your plans.

What can I expect when I hire Serendipity Strings? 

We will arrive at your event 15-30 minutes before the performance time in order to set up and tune our instruments.  We will be dressed in elegant black attire, and will be ready to play promptly when your event begins. If you decide that you would like to contract us to play longer than originally planned, we will be happy to accommodate your needs if our schedule allows for it.

Can you play my favorite piece of music for my special occasion? 

We welcome your ideas and requests, and will make every effort to incorporate your special music needs. If your request is not available as a string quartet arrangement, we can arrange the piece for our group. We’ll be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.
