Violinist - Begin Scarseth

Begin is a seasoned solo and chamber player from the Seattle area. She received a bachelor degree from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in 2004. Begin has attended music festivals nationally including the Master Works Music Festival in New York and the Marrowstone Music festival in Washington. While at PLU, Begin studied with Dr Svend Ronnings. Her previous teachers have included Gennady Filimonov and Walter Schwede. Begin is currently a member of the Tacoma Symphony orchestra and has private teaching studios in Lynnwood and Issaquah.

 


Violinist - Lin Chen
 
Originally from Australia, Lin begun her violin studies at the age of 5 and classical voice at 16. While Lin mainly plays violin classically, she sings in all genres including Opera, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Pop. She has won various competitions and music scholarships and has attended a number of national music programs over the years. Lin has been involved in numerous music ensemble of all sizes and has toured with various groups around Australia, Europe and the US performing in notable venues such as the Parliament House of Australia, Sydney Opera House and Westminster Abby. Lin holds Associate Diplomas of Music from the Australian Music Examination Boards for Violin and Voice performance. She frequently freelances in the Greater Seattle area performing for different events in various ensembles.
 
 
Violist - Karyn Baker
 
Karyn, a native of Alabama, began playing the piano around age 6 (no one remembers exactly when) and became a violist at the age of 9. Her early musical engagements include performing at Carnegie Hall with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Huntsville and performing with the Alabama All State Orchestra. During her schooling years, she attended a number of summer music programs, including the Eastern Music Festival and the ENCORE School for Strings. Her previous teachers include Angela Flaniken, of Samford University and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and Greg Savage, Principal Violist of the Bellevue Philharmonic.  She has also attended master classes with Robert Vernon, Principal Violist of the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra. Karyn plays frequently around the Puget Sound region in various orchestras and chamber groups, and is currently the Assistant Principal Viola of the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra. She is a graduate of the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring program, where she worked on the score for the animated short film "Last Lift".
 
 
Cellist - Doris Bartha
 
Doris began her cello career at the age of 9 and has since being performing in a continuous river of orchestral and chamber music events. Her early orchestral involvements included the New Jersey Governor’s School, Greater Princeton Youth Symphony and All-State Orchestra. She has performed in prestigious venues such as the Carnegie Hall and Benaroya Hall. Twenty five years later, Doris is still active as ever in the music scene.  She currently plays with the Rainier Symphony, Bellevue Opera, Evergreen City Ballet Company and the Rouge et Noir Tango Orchestra.  Doris freelances in the Puget Sound region playing for various churches and events. She is a Film Scoring Student at the Pacific Northwest Music Works.
